The 3rd International Conference on Experimental and Computational Mechanic in Engineering 2021 (the 3rd ICECME – 2021), held online in Banda Aceh, Indonesia on 11 and 12 October 2021 by the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (JTMI), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

Although it is the third of ICECME, JTMI Department has previously conducted a series of similar conferences named Computational Mechanics and Numerical Analysis (CMNA). The first Regional Seminar of CMNA was held in 2002 in Banda Aceh. The Seminars were then annually held as the 2nd to 5th one from 2003 to 2006 in Banda Aceh. In 2008 the 6th CMNA become International Conference, jointly organized with the Department of Mechanical and Material Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The collaboration continued to the 7th International Conference of CMNA held in Banda Aceh in 2009. More than 200 papers from various institutions and countries have been published in the proceeding of CMNA. Furthermore, the Conference organized by JTMI began to change its name to ICECME which was successfully held in 2019 and 2020, this followed the development of variations of the topic of discussion during the conference.

Under the theme of the conference “Empowering Applied Technology, Innovation and Resilience for Sustainable Development in New Normal Era”, this conference features rich four keynote speeches delivered by Professor Dr. Ing Tamara Nestorovich from RUHR University Bochum, Germany, Professor Dr. Ir Samsul Rizal M.Eng from Syiah Kuala University, Indonesia, Professor Ir. Dr. Mohammad Yeakub Ali from University Technology Brunei, Brunei Darussalam, and Associate Professor Syarifah Nur Aqida Syed Ahmad from University Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia. The 3rd ICECME 2021 offers a special opportunity to bring together professors, researchers and scholars around the globe, and serves as a platform to deliver innovative research results and latest trends and development in the fields of Computational mechanics, Metallurgy and material science, Energy, Manufacturing processing systems, Industrial and system engineering, Biomechanics, Artificial intelligent, Micro/nano engineering, Micro-electro-mechanical system, Machine learning, Mechatronics, and Engineering design.
